Rural King set to open in Hopkinsville, close its doors in Powderly

As Hopkinsville eagerly awaits the opening of a Rural King in the city, the City of Powderly is bidding farewell to its Rural King—which will be relocated to Hopkinsville.

That’s according to a news release, which states that the Muhlenberg store will relocate to Hopkinsville as part of a long-term plan that includes the future opening of 15 stores over the next 13 months.  There was no word on what opportunities would be available for employees of the Powderly store at the Hopkinsville location.

It’s expected that a grand-opening for Hopkinsville’s Rural King will be held on November 1.

Rural King President and CEO Steve Barbarick says, “As a family-owned business with 64 years of history, Rural King has always been deeply committed to serving our friends, family, and neighbors across our communities. These strategic changes will allow us to build even stronger relationships with our customers, create new jobs, and support the growth of rural America.”
