The City of Hopkinsville has made changes in recent months where it comes to Code Enforcement, the Lot Next Door program and more, and they’re inviting the community to attend a townhall meeting and learn more about those topics.
City Administrative Officer Troy Body and City Public Information Officer Amanda Brunt spoke with WHOP recently and invited the community to the first townhall meetings—the first one takes place today at 5 p.m. at the Kenneth Bates Community Center. The second will be on October 28 at 6 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club.
Brunt says that some of the townhall will be informative, but they’ll leave plenty of time to hear questions, comments and concerns from attendees, hoping to learn from them as well.
Body says that the city codes are the law, but that doesn’t mean they’re not confusing, and they want to help people better understand both the codes and Code Enforcement.
They’ll also elaborate on the Lot Next Door Program, the Landbank Authority and how people can get involved in eliminating the literal hundreds of empty lots in Hopkinsville. He says even if you think it doesn’t involve you, it does—those lots are maintained by the City, using tax payer dollars.
