After a very rainy weekend—which has done a lot of work into alleviating our drought conditions in western Kentucky—it’s looking like the rest of the week will dry out in a return to sunny weather.
Forecaster Rachel Trevino with the National Weather Service in Paducah says it’s going to be a very pleasant week, with moderate fall-like temperatures and sunny skies in store.
She says there’s no doubt that the remnants of Hurricane Helene—which brought devastating flooding to parts of North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida—made a significant impact to our drought conditions, with several inches of rain falling over the weekend.
Looking ahead in the 8-to-14-day outlook, it’s looking like a chance for average temperatures and near normal for precipitation. However, Trevino says they are keeping an eye on the tropics for any new storm systems that could develop, though the details on what those system would like remain unclear.
