Call it revenge. Call it growing. The one thing you can call Heritage Christian Academy’s 3-0 high school volleyball win over visiting Christian County is exciting.
The Lady Warriors, who fell to the Lady Colonels 3-1 last month, powered past Christian County in front of a loud and raucous crowd Thursday night, 25-14, 25-20, 26-24.
Mya Goodwin led the Lady Warriors with 16 kills, two aces, and 15 digs. Not to be outdone, Katie Cansler had seven kills and 16 digs and Makenzie McCarty added five kills, nine assists, and an ace.
Although the cross-town opponents now each have one district loss, Christian County is the No. 1 seed in next month’s district tournament because the first match up is used for seeding. The Lady Warriors will be the No. 2 seed.
Allie Craft had 15 digs, three assists and an ace and Hadlee Hayes added two kills, 18 assists and six assists for the Lady Warriors, who improved to 12-4 overall and 6-1 against district foes.
Bralee Fowler got the Lady Warriors off to a good start in the first set with several of her six aces in the match.
Christian County, which did not provide statistics, slips to 9-14 overall and 5-1 against district opponents.
HCA plays at University Heights Academy on Monday and Christian County is back in action Monday at home against Crittenden County.
