University Heights Academy will be the top seed in the Boys’ District 8 Soccer Tournament next month after a 4-1 win over Hopkinsville Tuesday night at Givens Field.
The Warriors jumped on top 1-0 on a goal by Lincoln Hauret with 20:40 to go in the first half. But Hopkinsville answered on a free kick by Alex Ramirez in the 26th minute.
UHA took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Cadence Gibson. Shortly after, the Blazers were hit with a red card and finished the half and the rest of the game with only 10 players.
However, Hauret struck in the first 30 seconds of the second half and gave the Blazers momentum and a 3-1 lead. Cal Givens finished off the scoring for UHA.
Eli Finch made four saves in goal for the Blazers, who improved to 11-5 overall. They will play the winner of the Fort Campbell-Heritage Christian game in the first semifinal game of the district tournament on Oct. 8.
Hopkinsville slipped to 5-12 overall and 2-1 in district play. The Tigers will be the second seed and play Christian County in the second semifinal game on Oct. 8.
Landon Bealieu had four saves against the Blazers, who outshot the Tigers 11-10.
