There have been no injuries reported so far from a shooting situation that occurred Saturday morning at the Governor’s Square Mall in Clarksville, in an event that shutdown the mall for sometime as officers cleared the area.
According to the Clarksville Police Department, the shooting occurred at roughly 10:45 a.m. and officers were on scene within a minute of the initial 911 call. Officers immediately entered the mall and did a protective sweep, ensuring that no one was actively shooting in the mall and that there were no victims.
Witnesses at the scene informed officers that the shooting had taken place outside of the mall, in the parking lot and on the perimeter road. After a deliberate search was done inside to ensure there was no danger, shoppers were allowed inside of the mall just before 2 p.m.
As of Saturday afternoon, there were still no reported victims. It is believed this was an isolated incident between two parties and not a random act. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Clarksville Crime Stoppers.
The Clarksville Police Department would like to thank the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Homeland Security, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Clarksville Fire Rescue, Montgomery County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), First Call, Vanderbilt EMS, and CPD dispatchers for responding to the scene.
