The Hoptown Hoppers announced their baseball coach for the 2025 season on Saturday morning.
In a news release sent to WHOP, the organization said it has named Andrew Hernandez, a pitching coach at Wharton, Junior College in Wharton Texas, as its next skipper.
“During our interview process he was really impressive and proved himself to our hiring committee,” Hoppers General Manager Danny Roberts said in the release. “I am excited about the future of the Hoppers.”
Roberts added that former Hoppers manager Trey Porras also had a strong recommendation for Hernandez.
Hernandez is a Corpus Christi, Texas native who played for Texas A&M International in 2019. After his freshman season, he transferred to Wharton County Junior College and later committed to Texas A&M Kingsville, where he finished his college career.
“I couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity,” Hernandez said in the release. “Thank you to GM Roberts and the Hopper Board of Directors for putting your trust in me. I look forward to being part of this program and working closely with the players and management to continue the success of the Hoppers.”
The Hoppers finished the 2024 season with a 17-22 record and were fourth place out of five teams in the Ohio Valley League.
