The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers’ soccer team geared up for tonight’s showdown with cross-town rival Christian County by blowing out McLean County 9-0 Monday night in Calhoun.
Kaylyn Lynch had four goals and two assists to pace Hopkinsville. Kaydon Coats added two goals and three assists as the Tigers scored all nine goals in the first half and forced the game to end at halftime due to the mercy rule.
Rebecca Wood, Grace Cansler and Emma Dearmond each scored goals. Cansler and Aubriana Johnson provided assists.
Jaleigha McFarland had one save and earned the shutout in goal for the Lady Tigers (7-6-1).
In the JV game, Hopkinsville used two goals from Jaycee Shanklin to win 2-0. Kaylyn Schwartz had the shutout in goal.
Tonight’s District 8 game with the Lady Colonels is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. Hoptown is 1-1 in district play and the Lady Colonels enter tonight’s contest at 0-1 in district play. This will be the 55th soccer meeting between the two programs.
