For the first time in six year, the Saints Peter and Paul Elementary School cross-country team has earned a medal.
The Saints took third place in the girls’ elementary school division of the Muhlenberg County Mustang Stampede on Saturday in Greenville.
Korie Hurt and Olive Burley led the way for the Saints by taking third and fourth, respectively, in 14:09.34 and 14:12.50.
Serenity Anderson was 42nd in 17:57.06 and Karleigh Walker was 43rd in 18:02.
Others competing in the girls race for SSPP included Ja’Oni Hopkins (47, 18:17.93), Valentina Onate (61, 19:02), Kaeline Adams (94, 22:41.70), Mabry Jones (80, 20:39), Harley Bush (98, 22:52), Kennedy Walker (102, 23:50.06), and Abigayle Atchley (111, 25:42).
The boys’ team finished ninth overall and were led by Finnigan Roberts’ 85th-place finish in 20:13.98). Others running for the Saints included Patrick Hogan (92, 21:01.88), Telvin James (72, 18:18), Isaias Onate (74, 18:47), EJ Atchley (99, 22:44), Colton Mabry (101, 22:56) and Jackson Mabry (110, 26:28).
