The Hopkinsville Police Department is investigating this morning after a threat that could involve Christian County Public Schools began circulating online.
Law enforcement was made aware of the threat early Monday morning—school officials were immediately notified and an investigation began at once to determine the source of the threat. Out of an abundance of caution, additional security measures are in place at the schools.
In an update from CCPS Spokesperson Johnna Brown, Hopkinsville police were able to determine that there was no credible threat, and all schools have since been deemed safe. Students were operating on a normal schedule as of later in the morning. Anyone with additional information on the threats are asked to contact Brown or local law enforcement.
School officials say, “The district takes all threats seriously, and any threat will not be tolerated. We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and staff. Any individual found making a threat will face serious consequences in accordance with district policies and local law enforcement.”
