The Kentucky Department of Agriculture presented the Western Kentucky Fair with a $100,000 check in Frankfort on Wednesday, September 11.
The check will be used to support the fair facilities and operations, as a part of the project HB 1, this legislation is designed to support projects within state government and communities.
The investments from the fund are aimed at enhancing the quality of life and development within the Commonwealth. They have already supported school facilities, public pensions, tourism, community development, and improvements to road infrastructure.
Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell said, “Investing in local fairs like the Western Kentucky Fair means investing in the future of agriculture and the communities that support it. These funds will help improve facilities and operations, ensuring a lasting impact for generations to come.”
The funds will be used to replace curtains and repair the convention center roof, resurface the parking lot with blacktop, replace light at the grandstands, and remodel the barbecue booth.
President of the Western Kentucky State Fair Board Brad Hewell says, “The money is greatly appreciated and will be used wisely on improvements at the fairgrounds, which are so important to have in this county that has such a great agricultural heritage.”
If you are interested in seeing these improvements, make your way to the Annual Fall Pull on Friday night and the Demolitions Derby on Saturday.
