Rain pushes back Hoptown Idol event

While rain is delaying the event, the musical artists of Hopkinsville and Christian County won’t be stopped from showcasing their talents in the next Hoptown Idol.

Rachel Sanders with Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation says this event is quickly becoming a crowd favorite and while the rain is causing some mischief with their plans, they intend to find out who the next Hoptown Idol will be, with the event designed to really let individuals in the community show what they’re made of.

More information will be released soon about the postponement, but it won’t be for very long, and Sanders says they received 30 video submissions—on the night itself, they’ll have 15 open mic slots available.

She says they have a panel of stellar judges who will be responsible for selecting the next local idol, and the winner will nab the grand prize of $500 and a two-hour recording session.

It’ll come down to 8 finalists, and from there, the judges will get the final say—however, crowd participation is factored into final judging.  There will be food trucks on hand that night and music and karaoke services are provided by House Party Karaoke.
