Representative Walker Thomas was appointed to National Conference of State Legislature’s Military and Veterans Affairs Task Force by House Speaker David Osborne, this past week.

According to a news release, Representative Thomas brings experience and knowledge of the current needs of military personnel from serving as the Chair of the Kentucky House Committee on Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection. He has also worked to pass legislation directed towards supporting service members as they transition from active duty to retirements.

Representative Thomas’ new role on the task force focuses on examining issues affecting service members, veterans, and their families. They will touch on topics such as veteran hiring and procurement, mental health, and benefits for military personnel.

Representative Thomas says, “I look forward to further examining the issues affecting service members, veterans, and their families, hearing about military and veteran-related policy initiatives lawmakers from other states have implemented, and examining how we, as legislators can better serve and support our service members, veterans, and their families.”
