The YMCA of Hopkinsville will be hosting their annual prayer and tribute workout in memory of the tragedy that occurred on September 11, 2001.
The tribute workout will get underway bright and early at 7:15 a.m. this coming Saturday, September 7, at the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville. Same day registration will start at 7 a.m. that day, but you can preregister for it at the Hopkinsville YMCA or on the YMCA’s website.
There will be a prayer in a brief ceremony at about 7:20 a.m. and then the tribute workout will start at 7:30 a.m. All fitness levels are open to attend.
Local firefighters will also be taking part, climbing 2,200 steps on the bleachers of the stadium—those steps symbolize the 110 stories of the World Trade Centers Towers that heroic first responders climbed when trying to save lives during the act of terrorism that would change the United States forever. The climb recognizes those heroes, along with the 343 first responders that last their lives that day.
