The Hopkinsville Community College Foundation invites the community to its 34th annual Mike Foster Golf Scramble to raise funds to support community college students.
Mike Foster and Austin Calvert from the foundation appeared on WHOP to share what they have in store for this year. Foster founded the scramble which serves to raise funds to support community college students. Foster says scramble funds help students with additional costs beyond tuition such as books.
For some education pathways at the community college, Calvert says books can cost up to $1,000 per semester. Along with providing scholarships for book expenses, Calvert says the funds raised from the scramble also go toward the Pathfinder Pantry which has food, personal hygiene products and childcare items for those in need.
The foundation is looking for teams of four to compete, and Foster says those participating will receive breakfast, lunch and gift bags.
Along with golfers, Calvert says they are also looking for sponsors. They are looking for hole sponsors, breakfast sponsors, lunch sponsors and gift bag sponsors.
The scramble is set for October 4 at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club. Those interested in competing or being sponsors can call 270-707-3733.
