Lexington Bryan Station is the champion of the 2024 Boots and Butts Soccer Tournament, which was played Saturday at the Stadium of Champions.
Bryan Station and 18th-ranked Elizabethtown both went 2-0 on the day, but the Lexington squad won with 13 goals to 12 for E-Town.
It was a tough day on the pitch for the three local teams in the tournament.
Christian County went 1-1 with a 2-0 win over Danville on Saturday afternoon. Christian Lopez had both goals for the Colonels (6-2). Alex Hale had both assists and Mason Malone earned the shutout in goal.
The Colonels dropped their opening match 4-1 to Franklin County Saturday morning. Tyler Hancock’s penalty kick late in the match was all the scoring Christian County could muster.
Host Hopkinsville dropped both of its games, falling 7-0 to Danville and 2-0 to Franklin County. The Tigers fell to 2-7 on the season and play host to Caldwell County Tuesday night.
University Heights Academy also lost both of its games, falling to Elizabethtown 4-0 and Bryan Station 7-0.
UHA is 4-3 and will play host to Christian County in a key District 8 game Thursday night. The Colonels will play at Ohio County Tuesday night.
