Fort Campbell recently entered into three Intergovernmental Support Agreements with officials in Christian and Todd counties.
According to a news release, one of those was the renewal of an existing agreement with the City of Hopkinsville from a five-year term—which was expiring—to a new extended 10-year agreement providing for a partnership in bulk salt purchasing that’s used to during winter weather conditions. This allows both parties to purchase bulk salt in greater quantities at a lower cost. By renewing and extending to a 10-year agreement, a 10 percent cost savings for all parties involved is anticipated.
The second agreement was between Fort Campbell and the Pennyrile Regional Energry Agency, formalizing an agreement for Natural Gas Transportation between the two. It’s expected to provide better ability to project natural gas needs and transportation costs for the residents of Todd County.
The third agreement is between Fort Campbell and the Christian County Jail, allowing for the future confinement of male and female soldiers in the Christian County Jail. This agreement enhances operational readiness and efficiency by reducing reliance on the current service provider that is 115 miles away in Leitchfield. It’s set to reflect a cost savings of $45,000 for Fort Campbell, while also giving an increase in revenue for the jail.
