One charged, one injured in South Virginia hit-and-run collision

A Texas man is facing charges in Christian County following a hit-and-run collision that happened on South Virginia Street in Hopkinsville on Sunday.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to the intersection of East Ninth Street and South Virginia, where a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Eric Chapa of Brownsville, Texas had reportedly failed to stop at the light.  He collided with a vehicle operated by 23-year-old Josaiah Brown, but then allegedly fled the scene.

He was located a short time later at the Waffle House on Fort Campbell Boulevard and taken into custody. Brown was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of injuries. 

Chapa was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with failure to render aid and no operator’s license.
