This past week at the Kentucky State Fair, everyone got to witness the incredible support agriculture education gets from local communities.
As of August 16th, Kentucky Farmers donated an all-time high amount of $931,200 to the Ag Tag Program of 2024. This program is organized to fund two national student organizations at the state level and will benefit 175 Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters and the 4-H youth in all 120 counties, giving them the opportunity to experience the Ag. industry for themselves.
The Ag Tag Program works through donations from Kentucky motorists who buy or renew farm vehicle license plates—individuals can donate up to $10 to the program.
Callie Derossett, the Kentucky 4-H State President, got to see the Ag Tag impact unfold at the Kentucky 4-H annual breakfast where Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell presented the check to the 4-H foundation. Derossett noted this program is funding the Kentucky Ag. story for so many people to enjoy. She says, not only is this program bettering the lives of the youth of today but affecting where the future of the industry is headed.
Derossett had the opportunity to explain just how the program has affected Ag. education to someone not far outside of the Kentucky agriculture umbrella. She has had the opportunity to tell others about the great that the Ag Tag program has done and is going to do for the future of the industry.
Anyone can get an Ag Tag and support the great futures of students like Derossett on their road to bettering the industry for everyone and impacting the Commonwealth and the nation.
