Summer Salute gets underway Friday, bringing food and music to downtown Hopkinsville

The summer still has some sun and fun left to go, and things will be rocking and rolling in downtown Hopkinsville this week with the return of the Summer Salute Festival.

Speaking with WHOP News recently, Rachel Sanders with Parks and Recreation says folks travelling downtown can expect streets to start closing around Founders Square starting Thursday afternoon as they start set up for everything to kick-off Friday morning.

The Jimmy Church Band takes to the stage Friday night to bring everyone to their feet and then the band Parmalee will wrap-up the festival Saturday night, bringing country music to the air.

Sanders says the food options are plentiful, with more than enough to choose from—so no one should go home hungry.

After that, they’ll turn their focus from the summer to their fall time events. But before that, there’s still summer fun to be had at the Bluegrass Splash Family Aquatic Center, though it will go to only being open on the weekends after school starts.
