Cobb talks education with Men To Be

Former University of Kentucky quarterback and NFL veteran Randall Cobb was a guest speaker Saturday night at the Men To Be Fourth Annual Gala at The Silo in Hopkinsville.

Cobb emphasized to the students in attendance that getting a college education had not only changed his life, but also others in his family.

Growing up in a small town in eastern Tennessee, Cobb said he knew the challenges that many in attendance were going through. He told the students that it’s important to play sports, but they could use education in conjunction with sports to be more successful in life.

Cobb said his father and mother put an emphasis on education and he understood at an early age that school had to come before sports.

Although he was interested in basketball, he said he realized once he got to high school that football was his ticket to success.

Cobb was an All-American at Kentucky in 2010 and was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the 2011 NFL draft. He played 10 seasons for the Packers. He also spent one year with the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets.

He recently joined the SEC Network as an analyst.
