Two charged following high-speed pursuit in Hopkinsville

Two people have been charged following a vehicle pursuit that began on East 21st Street and ended near the Christian County Airport early Sunday morning. 

According to the Hopkinsville Police report, a vehicle was heading down East 21st around 2 a.m. when officers reported it heading 55 miles per hour in a 25 miles per hour zone, so they attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle reportedly failed to stop and a pursuit began at a high-rate of speed.

The pursuit continued down several streets before coming to a stop on Russellville Road near Airport Road, after disregarding numerous traffic signals and reportedly traveling the wrong way on city streets.  The vehicle lost control and crashed, taking out a street sign. 

The driver, 24-year-old Detorrian Ware of Hopkinsville, was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving, second-degree criminal mischief and several traffic violations.

A passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Devonni Radford of California, allegedly tried to flee on foot after the crash and was apprehended. He is facing a third-degree fleeing or evading police charge.
