Coleman says she’s ‘ready’ to serve as governor if Beshear becomes VP

Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman visited western Kentucky on Friday for ribbon cuttings in place of Governor Andy Beshear. During her visit, she shared her thoughts on Beshear being one of the contenders for the Democratic vice president nominee.

At a recent Team Kentucky Update, Beshear issued a short statement, saying he is honored to be considered for the role of vice president and he will do everything he can to ensure that Kamala Harris is the country’s next president.

Coleman says Beshear is in this position because of everything he has done to uplift Kentuckian while putting partisan politics aside. Regardless of Beshear’s decision, Coleman says he will do what is best for Kentucky.

If Beshear were to be selected as Harris’ running mate then his remaining term as governor would be finished by Coleman and she says she is ready if it comes down to it.

Both she and Beshear have the same priorities for Kentucky and Coleman says she would not have taken on the role of lieutenant governor if she was not prepared to lead the state.

Beshear’s current term ends in December 2027.
