Two facing charges following multi-county pursuit that began in Muhlenberg

A Russellville man and a Madisonville man are in custody following a multi-county pursuit that began in Muhlenberg County Wednesday.

According to a news release from Kentucky State Police, officers responded to the Central City Walmart for reports of two individuals shoplifting—when the Powderly Police Department and Central City Police attempted to stop a vehicle matching the one driven by the suspects, the pursuit began.

Multiple agencies, including KSP, would join in the pursuit as it made its way through Muhlenberg, Hopkins and McClean Counties on numerous roadways, before it was forced to come to a stop through an intervention maneuver on the KY-189 Bypass.

The driver, 36-year-old Sean Stratton of Russellville and passenger 28-year-old Selexus Zamperla of Madisonville, were taken into custody.  Stratton is facing charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police, possession of methamphetamine, DUI, first-degree criminal mischief, felony theft, reckless driving and several traffic violations.

Zamperla is charged with felony theft and public intoxication.
