Diver dies after going missing under water at Pennyroyal Scuba Center

An Indiana man has been pronounced deceased after he went missing under the water for nearly half an hour at the Pennyroyal Scuba Center Sunday.

Emergency personnel with Hopkinsville Fire and EMS and Christian County Emergency Management responded to the Scuba Center on Christian Quarry Road Sunday morning for reports that a diver had gone missing while diving. The diver, identified as 77-year-old Larry Drennan of Evansville, Indiana, was located by fellow divers after being under the water for approximately 30 minutes.

Life saving efforts were conducted at the scene, and then he was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center with CPR in progress, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Drennan was transported to Louisville for an autopsy to be conducted, but the cause of death is believed to be accidental in nature.
