Pembroke couple starts FCA journey

After some consideration and maybe a little divine intervention, a Pembroke couple has accepted the job as Area Rep family with the West Kentucky Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

Barry Payne and Jettie Payne just returned from training in Kansas City and are excited to begin working for the West Kentucky FCA chapter that serves schools in Christian, Caldwell, Trigg, Lyon and Crittenden counties.

“The opportunity came up a while ago, but we just didn’t feel like the time was right,” Barry Payne said. “Jettie and I started getting active with the youth in our church and FCA kept popping up and popping up. We just felt like God was calling us to do this.”

FCA already exists as a student led club in most area high schools. As an Area Rep, the Paynes’ mission will be to support those clubs and help provide any resources they need to accomplish their goals. They also will provide opportunities for leadership training and spiritual growth for coaches and athletes.

The couple now is hoping to find financial support from the community to get the program off the ground floor.

“If anyone wants to be a monthly supporter or wants to learn more about FCA and how they can help us, they can go to my.fca.org,” Barry Payne said. “You can click on the donate button or search under our names. You can also contact us at 270-484-6200.”

Barry Payne was introduced to FCA while a student athlete at Hopkinsville High School. He was a standout golfer, who continued his playing and educational career at Campbellsville University.

Jettie Payne was a cheerleader at Marshall County High School and also attended Campbellsville University.
