Mayor, Public Information Officer spotlight City Council information campaign

Hopkinsville Mayor, J.R. Knight and City Public Information Officer, Amanda Brunt appeared on WHOP recently to spotlight their ward and council member information campaign.

Last week the “Know Your Ward and Councilperson” social media campaign was launched across city social media platforms. Since the campaign started, each day a council member and a map of their ward has been posted along with the council member’s email and phone number.

The posts also include an interactive map where users can either tap on a location on a city map or type in their address to find information about their ward.

Knight says he wants to ensure that residents know what ward they live in and who represents them on City Council.

By spotlighting this information, Knight says it will strengthen communication between the city and residents. With a stronger channel of communication, Knight says the city will be able to know more about the community’s needs.

Brunt says she recently found that there was communication disconnect with inner-city communities, so the campaign is a step in the right direction to repair that disconnect and ensure transparency.

The campaign posts can be found at City of Hopkinsville Local Government on Facebook and additional ward and council member information is available at hopkinsvilleky.us.
