CCPS Superintendent gives updates on high school construction

Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel shared updates on the construction on the new consolidated high school, construction plans and schedule.

With around 120 construction workers on site each day, Bentzel says construction of the consolidated Christian County High School is continuing on schedule, and on budget.

Bentzel says much of the school’s interior is currently under construction. Roofing on two sections of the school has already been completed, and roofing on the two remaining sections is expected to finish within the next month and a half.

Work will soon begin on the exterior brick of the school, as material is set to arrive within the next two weeks. Bentzel expects the first bricks will be laid in a month.

Athletic fields and buildings are also a matter under consideration. According to Bentzel, construction of the main gym is being saved for last, as it is the largest building on campus. Discussions on the athletic fields are set to begin this month, and bidding for the project is expected to begin in December or January.

Work on the new school is set to continue until May of 2026, and the school will open for the 2026-2027 school year.
