Todd Fiscal Court talks medical marijuana, Joint Planning Commission

Todd County Fiscal Court discussed medical marijuana, the Joint Planning Commission and several resolutions at Friday’s meeting. 

First, Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield proposed that Fiscal Court approve purchasing two new trash compactors for Waste Management—which magistrates approved—to go in two Convenient Centers for $1,700 apiece.

County Attorney Jeff Traughber says things are moving forward in regards to a Joint Planning Commission in the county, saying they’ll have their first public meeting at the end of July, where officials will explain the commission’s purpose and the next steps.

Then, magistrates approved a resolution to put the question to the voters—will Todd County allow for the sale of medical marijuana in the county when it becomes legal in 2025? Todd County residents will see it on their ballots come the next election. 

In the 2023 Kentucky General Assembly, lawmakers voted to legalize medical marijuana in the state which will come into effect in 2025. Todd County is in a seven-county region where at least four medical marijuana dispensaries will be located.
