Summer is well underway which means Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation is busy hosting community events and Rachel Sanders, the organization’s marketing and events coordinator, appeared on WHOP to share what the they have planned.
On Friday, some country fun is coming to Founder’s Square as Parks and Recreation is hosting its first-ever Hoptown Throwdown. Sanders shared that the event will feature live music from Nashville artist Court Taylor, food trucks and country themed yard games such as corn hole, cattle roping and horseshoes.
The event kicks off at 6 p.m. and Sanders says attendees are encouraged to wear their best boots, hats and country attire.
On Saturday, Christmas in July is coming back to the Hopkinsville Sportsplex where over 80 vendors including local businesses will be selling jewelry, wood works, handmade soaps and other crafts. Sanders says the event encourages people to support Hopkinsville businesses.
Moving on to August, Parks and Recreation will be hosting its eighth annual Summer Salute in downtown Hopkinsville. The country band, Parmalee is this year’s headlining act and Sanders shared that Kentucky country artist Tyler Booth will be the band’s opening act.
However, this year’s Summer Salute will look different because the carnival will not be coming back and Sanders says they will find another activity to take the place of the rides. Summer Salute is set for August 23 and 24.
