CCPS superintendent shares updates on school campus transitions

While students are enjoying summer break, Christian County Public Schools Superintendent shared that they are focused on getting ready for the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

During the recent school year, the Christian County School Board approved for sixth grade to move back to county middle schools, the closure of Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School and the relocation of some school campuses.

The Indian Hills Elementary School campus will be the Martin Luther King Jr. Early Learning Center; Indian Hills Elementary School will relocate to the Hopkinsville Middle School Campus and Hopkinsville Middle School will relocate to the MLK Elementary School campus.

MLK Early Learning Center already opened on June 24, and Superintendent Chris Bentzel says many school districts are establishing early learning centers and he is happy they were able to do so while revamping an older building.

Bentzel also shared that progress is well underway at the new Hopkinsville Middle School campus. He says a few of school’s hallways have been remodeled, new window wrapping was installed and new signage has been posted.

With one elementary school closing in the district, Bentzel says the attendance zones for elementary school students have altered. An attendance zone map is available on the district website where residents can insert their address to find what school their student is attending.

The 2024-2025 school year starts on August 26 and student registration is currently open and available at christian.kyschools.us.
