Former Elkton Police Department Chief Bruce Marklin passed away Wednesday morning following a battle with a long illness.
A marine and Vietnam veteran, Marklin retired as chief in 2013 but continued to serve the community in numerous ways, including as deacon at Calvery Baptist Church in Elkton. At his retirement ceremony in 2013, Chief Marklin expressed his passion for helping youth and battling against addiction in the community.
Former WHOP News Director and longtime friend of Marklin Adam May called Marklin a true servant with a giving heart, and told the story of the time he helped a young man who was cold.
He says Marklin with be truly missed in Todd County, and was one of the kindest men you could ever know.
Marklin is survived by two daughters and his wife—funeral arrangements will be announced as they become available.
