Pennyrile Electric President, Alan Gates announced that the company’s electricity rates are set to be adjusted and provided updates on the company’s partnership with Hopkinsville Electric System (HES) to expand broadband internet at their annual board meeting on Tuesday.
As a result of supply constraints and cost increases, Gates says an electricity rate adjustment is set to occur in the coming months.
Gates also spotlighted the company’s partnership with HES to provide broadband internet to Pennyrile Electric’s service region. By 2025, Gates says 85% of their service region will be connected to broadband internet.
Last week, Pennyrile Electric concluded its membership appreciation days where free light bulbs were given to customers of the company at locations in Cadiz, Hopkinsville, Elkton, Russellville and Lewisburg. Gates says they were able to connect with around 3,500 of their customers through the appreciation day events.
Turning toward finances, Anna Herr from Diuguid, Gentry and Associates also presented an audit report and shared the company had a clean audit.
Concerning the board, results of the Pennyrile Electric’s Board of Directors were announced. Pennyrile Electric Attorney, Lee Harton announced that both James Lear and George Fox were reelected to serve as directors for Central District which covers Elkton.
Both Lear and Fox will serve three-year terms.
