While the Kentucky General Assembly doesn’t convene again until January, legislators remain busy in the interim with committee meetings and hearings.
Speaking with WHOP News, State Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke says things have been busy, and he was happy to see local ag. representative Wayne Hunt in Frankfort recently, speaking on the importance and policies concerning the Tobacco Settlement Fund. Dossett says a lot of representatives on that committee don’t know the history or the significance, and Hunt did a great job of imparting its importance.
The Tobacco Settlement Fund supports many endeavors in Kentucky, from education to agriculture.
Representative Dossett says they’ll also hear about a potential bill concerning removing children from homes that have a history of drug abuse—and he hopes it saves lives like that of eight-month-old Miya Rudd in Ohio County.
Dossett says being a legislator isn’t just from January to April, as they stay busy all year round.
