TVA puts out tips for energy savings during heatwave

The temperatures are climbing, giving the region our first real taste of summer this year, and the Tennessee Valley Authority is providing some tips on how to keep the energy bills low.

TVA Spokesperson Adam May spoke with WHOP News recently and says first, the TVA is reminding people to stay safe during the heatwave, including staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks if you have to be out in the sun.

May says when it comes to saving on your bill, just a few small things can help more than you realize, including raising the thermostat by just a degree or two, closing the blinds during the day, running big appliances after the sun goes down and more.

He says the TVA is working with citizens to upgrade their homes, including offering incentives and rebates to update HVAC systems and other household items—with more information available online.
