The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman was run over by a truck in White Plains Sunday.
According to a news release, investigation revealed that 20-year-old Nathan Offutt of Madisonville had gotten into a physical altercation with the female victim and took her purse from her. The victim told officers while she was trying to get her purse back from Offutt, he got into a red pickup truck driven by 43-year-old Paula Berry and told her to drive off.
Offuttt allegedly grabbed the victim by the arm and wouldn’t let go, dragging her down the road. She was able to free herself and fell, which is when the truck ran over her right leg and left hand.
The truck was later located and Berry was alone in the vehicle. She was taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault and driving on a suspended license. Officers continue to search for Offuttt.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
