After some delays, a much-earned and much-deserved recognition took place Wednesday morning, as Levi Peterson Jr. was presented with a Key to the City of Hopkinsville.
Levi Peterson Jr. is a well-known and respected figure in the community—he is a longtime educator, author and former Hopkinsville High School assistant principal and has told his story about how he went from dropping out of high school to going on to serve in the armed forces before dedicating his life to educating youth.
In a presentation, Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight recalled fond memories of his time as a student with Peterson, and says Peterson has done more for Hopkinsville than a lot of people will ever know.
The mayor thanked Peterson for his passion and advocacy for the people of Hopkinsville, saying he can never really be thanked enough.
It was an emotional celebration at times, with friends and family talking about the impact Peterson has had on their lives and what he means to them and this community.
