The United Way of the Pennyrile will soon be back into the swing of their 2024-2025 fundraising campaign, but before then, they have a new campaign logo thanks to the efforts of local art students.
Campaign Chair Martha Steil says they reached out to Christian County High School Art Educator Paula Gieseke to see if any students would be interested in participating in an art competition to design a logo for this year’s campaign—and they got an overwhelming 52 works of art in return. She says the United Way has a big focus on youth and students, so this felt like a good way to get them involved.
She says it was downright difficult to pick a winner, and eventually that narrowed it down to a top four, with Cameran Loden, Elena Pruett and Jasmine Beckwith the runners-up.
But the winner overall was Maci Petty with her logo that highlighted this year’s theme of “Shine Like the Stars”. Ms. Gieseke—otherwise known as Ms. G—says her students are always ready for a little competition and this was also a good time for them to learn about the United Way and its impact on the community.
The new logo will appear at all upcoming events for the campaign, along with being used in promotional work and signage. The United Way of the Pennyrile benefits 18 partner agencies in Christian, Todd and Trigg Counties.
