Christian County sets new tourism revenue record

Christian County was ranked ninth out of Kentucky’s 120 counties for visitor spending in 2023 setting a new county record.

According to a report from the Kentucky Department of Tourism, in 2023 visitors to Christian County spent a record amount of $239.1 million which is $1.9 million more than the previous record set in 2022.

Christian County is home to events and attractions such as Oak Grove’s Spring into Summer Festival, Summer Salute, MB Roland and Casey Jones Distilleries, Oak Grove’s Butterfly Festival and much more.

Amy Rogers, the Executive Director of Visit Hopkinsville says she could not be more ecstatic about a new tourism spending record being set in the county. Rogers says the revenue solidifies that Christian County is home to events, tours and locations that attract visitors.

Rogers says the revenue record is also a testament to the work Visit Hopkinsville does to be hospitable to visitors and locals alike.

Traci Cunningham, the Executive Director of the Oak Grove Tourism Commission says she was proud to see Christian County ranked ninth in tourism revenue out of Kentucky’s 120 counties. Cunningham says it’s a clear sign that the work of those in county tourism is having a positive impact.

Reflecting on recent events the commission has hosted, Cunningham says their attendance has been steadily increasing. At their Spring into Summer Festival in May, Cunningham says they had one of their biggest turnouts.

Overall Kentucky’s tourism industry generated around $13.8 billion in revenue.
