Beshear recognizes tourism workers at Team Kentucky Update

Gov. Andy Beshear spotlighted the work of those in Kentucky’s tourism industry and named them as Team Kentucky All Stars at Thursday’s Team Kentucky Update.

Beshear announced that 2023 was a record year for tourism revenue in Kentucky. According to an economic study report, tourism generated more than $13.8 billion in Kentucky last year.

Along with the record revenue, Beshear shared that over 95,000 Kentuckians work in the tourism industry and in 2023 the state welcomed over 79 million visitors, an increase of 4.5% over what was Kentucky’s best tourism year.

Travelers visiting Kentucky reportedly spent $9.7 billion which has stayed in communities across the state.

Along with sharing the accomplishments of Kentucky’s tourism industry, Beshear announced that the Kentucky Bourbon Trail is in its 25th year. The trail started with 5 distilleries and has now expanded to include 46 distilleries.

To mark the anniversary, Beshear says the Kentucky Distillers’ Association will be launching a new digital experience that will allow travelers to create their own distillery tour and will be reflective of the new offerings on the trail.

To end the meeting, Beshear announced this week’s Team Kentucky All Stars. Franklin County Judge Executive, Michael Mueller was honored as an all star for recognizing Juneteenth as a federal holiday in Franklin County. Beshear also announced those who compose Kentucky’s tourism industry as Kentucky All Stars.
