Hopkinsville man charged with first-degree burglary

A Hopkinsville man has been charged following a disturbance on South Kentucky Avenue last Friday.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of South Kentucky for reports of a man trying to force his way into the home. Upon arrival, contact was made with 46-year-old Tremayne Welch of Hopkinsville, who was reportedly under the influence of narcotics.

The victim informed officers that Welch had come to the home and she felt unsafe due to his state and the way he was acting, so she went to a neighbor’s house, where she called 911. Welch apparently followed her and tried to make entry into the residence, where he allegedly brandished a knife and made threats, saying he could get away with any charges.

A search of Welch’s person reportedly revealed a knife.  He was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and public intoxication.
