Economic Council spotlights board member award win, recent job fair

The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council recognized a board member who received an award from the Boy Scouts of America as well as reflected on this year’s JobsFest at their Monday meeting.

Eston Glover and his wife JoAnne Glover where awarded the Distinguished Citizenship Award by the Boy Scouts of America and Lincoln Heritage Foundation on Tuesday, May 14th. Council Executive Director, Carter Hendricks shared the pair’s award win with the council.

According to the Boy Scouts of America website, this award is bestowed to community leaders who personify what the Boy Scouts of America stands for. Though not required to be members of the Boy Scouts themselves, winners must display good citizenship, contribute outstanding civil service and show their strong dedication to others.

Eston Glover previously served as the CEO of Pennyrile Electric Cooperative. JoAnne Glover previously worked in the Todd County School District.

Hendricks also took a moment to reflect on the 2024 JobsFest held earlier this month. He expressed satisfaction with how the event turned out, and was glad to report students were already receiving potential job opportunities.

Around 20 employers showed up to JobsFest, which aims to provide job opportunities to students who are not planning to pursue a college or military career.  Hendricks is hopeful the turnout will only grow as the event continues over the years.
