The following message is from Christian County Schools.
After carefully considering the forecast for this evening, consulting with local and regional emergency management agencies, and at the request of our graduates from the Class of 2024, Christian County Public Schools has decided to proceed with tonight’s commencement exercises outdoors at the Stadium of Champions. This decision will allow a greater number of friends and families to celebrate our graduates.
Hopkinsville High at 5 PM, gates open at 4PM. Christian County High at 8:30 PM, gates open at 7:30 PM.- NO TICKET NEEDED
Over the past several days, our area has received a substantial amount of rain, so there are a few things to consider with tonight’s outdoor event:
- Students will be sitting on the field, where the ground could be soft. Girls should consider flat shoes without heels for walking during the ceremony.
- NO UMBRELLAS While no severe storms are in the forecast, there may still be periods of rain. Guests in attendance may want to consider rain jackets or ponchos. Umbrellas will NOT be allowed in the stadium.
- Crews are working diligently to help dry the stadium of water on bleachers, walkways and steps. Please exercise caution when walking around steps or areas where water may have puddled.
- Consider carpooling when possible. Parking is limited to the paved lots ONLY at and around the stadium. The grassy lot behind Huck’s is private property and should not utilized for parking. Violators could be towed and responsible for damages to the property should your vehicle become stuck from the soft ground. There are several public areas of parking within a close proximity to the stadium where families could carpool from. Hopkinsville High School is also an option for parking and carpooling. Home and visitors sides of the stadium will be open for seating.
- A rain delay is possible. Graduates and families will be notified of any delay in start times to the ceremonies should a temporary change be indicative of the weather. Delays will typically be less than 30 minutes and would allow the ceremony to continue after the threat of weather, lightning, or storms has passed.
- All guests will be required to pass through the district’s weapons detection system. No bags, purses, backpacks, gift bags, or balloons are allowed at the stadium. A link to the planned live stream of each ceremony is posted on the district webpage or can be found here:
