EDC talks success of Jobs Fest, opportunities for local students

The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council is celebrating a successful 2024 Jobs Fest and they’re already planning for the next one.

Speaking with WHOP Friday morning, Executive Director Carter Hendricks says they’ve already heard reports of students receiving call-backs from local industries, looking to provide them with good-paying jobs right here in this community with little-to-no-debt.

He says the planning for next year’s Jobs Fest begins sooner than people might realize, with their intent to work closely with the school systems to make sure young people are fully aware of the opportunities they have locally.

Hendricks says as more of the new industries settle into place and finish construction—such as Ascend Elements and Toyota Boshoku—they’ll be looking to really ramp up hiring, and they’re looking for motivated locals to employee, especially those with expertise in manufacturing.
