Christian County High School graduates the class of 2024

Crowds packed the stands at the Stadium of Champions to celebrate the Christian County High School 2024 graduating class at Friday’s commencement ceremony.

Christian County High School’s graduating class consists of over 200 students and before they were graduated, Principal Kevin Crider recognized student accomplishments as well as remembered the students who would have been among this year’s graduates, but passed away.

The graduates and the audience held a moment of silence for Damarion Davis and Todd Harris who would have graduated this year. Empty seats were reserved for the pair and a cap and gown were placed in each seat.

Davis’ and Harris’ families were presented with honorary diplomas.

Crider then recognized the valedictorian, salutatorian and top 10 graduates for the class of 2024. Elijah Boehman was named the valedictorian and Dominique Davie was named the salutatorian.

Senior Class President, Antonio Rubio then addressed the graduates and the audience while introducing the keynote speaker, Peyton Moshier. Rubio thanked the friends and families in attendance for supporting the graduates and then he turned toward the students to say that graduating is not the end, but instead the beginning of a new chapter.

Moshier has taught at Christian County High School for four years as the personal finance instructor and also serves as the head girls soccer coach and an assistant baseball coach. During his speech, Moshier talked about his experience with students who are the first class he has witnessed in school from the start of their freshman year to now their graduation.

Moshier says the most important lesson he hopes graduates learned throughout their high school career is the importance of being themselves and never losing sight of the values that guide them.

After Moshier’s speech, the students were presented with their diplomas and Superintendent, Chris Bentzel announced the class of 2024 as graduates.

The graduates moved their tassels from the right side of their cap to the left side to signify the competition of their high school education. The full graduation ceremony can be watched on YouTube.
