Christian and Todd Counties have been awarded funding for application of rubber-modified asphalt to area roadways.
According to a news release from Governor Andy Beshear’s Office, Christian County will receive $117,125 and Todd County will be getting $156,571, to be used for used for the application of asphalt overlay to county roads. Thin asphalt overlays using rubber-modified asphalt have been shown to reduce noise, are more resistant to cracking and rutting, and increase the life of the roadway by 7 to 10 years.
Roads being surfaced include Millers Mill Road in Christian County and State Line Road in Todd County.
The money for these projects comes from the Kentucky Waste Tire Trust Fund, which receives $2 from every new tire sold in the commonwealth.
