Christian Fiscal Court passes budget on first-reading, resolutions

Christian Fiscal Court approved the 2024-25 fiscal year budget at Tuesday morning’s meeting and approved several resolutions dealing with roads.

The $48 million budget was approved unanimously on first-reading and includes money for four percent pay raises to county employees, along with projects involving Ruff Park, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department and the Chrisitan County Jail.  Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam says the budget heads to the Department of Local Government for review, and then it’ll come back to Fiscal Court for final approval.

Magistrates also approved annexation of property to the City of Hopkinsville, located near the Stadium of Champions.

Magistrates approved a resolution with the Hopkinsville Industrial Foundation, to enter into a loan of up to $250,000 to help pave the way for a street between Altria and Toyota Boshoku.

Before the meeting began, a proclamation was read declaring it the Week of the Eagles in honor of Fort Campbell, with events and activities planned from May 17 through May 23.
