National Salvation Army Week kicks off with Navigation Hub ribbon cutting

National Salvation Army Week runs from May 13 to May 19 and spotlights the organization’s history, services and community impact, and to also recognize the volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders who support the nonprofit.

According to a news release, National Salvation Army Week has been observed annually since 1954, when it was declared by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. In his proclamation, Eisenhower recognized the important role the nonprofit plays in the nation and called on all Americans to support the the Salvation Army’s mission.

During the week, the Salvation Army of Hopkinsville will host a series of events and activities to celebrate the organization’s work and mission, including the grand opening of their new Life Navigation Community Hub on Monday at 10 a.m. at 313 East 7th Street.

Salvation Army Lieutenant, Lindsey Galabeas says they are excited to kick off the week and celebrate the organization’s rich history and community impact. Galabeas says they also want to thank their volunteers, donors and stakeholders for their support throughout the year.
