KSP trooper killed in off-duty crash

Kentucky State Police are mourning the loss of one of their own, after Trooper Jonathan Johnson was killed in an off-duty crash in Warren County Tuesday morning. 

According to a news release, the 48-year-old Johnson was a nine-year veteran of the agency, assigned to Muhlenberg County. He graduated from Cadet Class 92 and served at both the Madisonville and Bowling Green posts during his tenure with the agency. He received the post-level Detective of the Year honor in 2019.

KSP Captain Derek Smith says, “Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of Trooper Johnson, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle crash. Our Post 2 personnel appreciate the outpouring of support and pray for the Johnson family as they cope with this devastating loss.”

Trooper Johnson is survived by his wife and two children.
