Rotary gives back to community during night three of auction

There’s still plenty of time to bid on an auction item, grab some food from the diner and sweet shop or give a donation to the cause for the 74th annual WHOP Rotary Radio Auction, which continues through Saturday.

Wednesday’s festivities saw 104 items sold on the live auction, bringing in $9,341, the diner and sweet shop brought in $6,610 and the Hour and Goat Clubs raised $27,900 in donations.  That puts the total for Wednesday at $43,851 and the overall total raised since Monday at $273,734.15, with three nights to go.

Auction Chair Kelly Gates says there’s still plenty up for grabs on the auction, including several excellent Big Board items, and you can bid by calling 270-885-7500 or you can do it in person.

If you’ve been downtown at all this week, you’ve probably smelled the food cooking for the Diner, and Gates urges people to not miss out on some delicious eats.

The Club took the chance to give back to the community Wednesday night, awarding grants to Chrisitan County Head Start, the Hopkinsville-Christian County Youth League and the Department of Juvenile Justice, showcasing their commitment to students of all ages on their purposeful pathways.

The action continues tonight at 6 p.m. at the War Memorial Building in Hopkinsville and runs until 9 p.m.—then it goes until 10 p.m. Friday night and until all items are sold on Saturday. You can listen to the events live right here on 98.7 Lite FM.
